C1242 – Master clock from Johannesburg station

This Synchronome Master clock was first installed by E. Nicole of Troy Watch at the Johannesburg station.

It was the Master clock that controlled all slave clocks in and around the station.

It was imported from Synchronome Electric, London, in the 1920’s.

About 2250 were made between 1922 and 1945/6.

The daughter of E. Nicole married into the Piguet family. Audemars Piguet is one of the top watch manufacturers still in operation in Switzerland.
